Black Sand Yoga offers athletic yoga classes and Oxygen Advantage® training to help you improve your surfing skills and stay in surf shape. You’ll build strength, improve balance and flexibility, and gain energy and focus when you take classes with us!

We know you’re busy and there’s a lot to do, from home life to work and surfing in between! All of our classes are designed to help you make the most of your practice without losing valuable time in your day.

Black Sand yoga was created from a love for surfing (Nick and Natalie actually met at FSU Surf Club!) to help you surf better and stay in the water longer - whether you’re catching actual waves or riding the wave of life!

Black Sand Yoga’s classes are fun, upbeat workouts that will help you build strength and endurance, improve balance and flexibility, and gain energy.

Athletic Yoga

Our athletic style of yoga will help you stay in surf shape by building strength and endurance while also improving balance and flexibility. You’ll reduce stress and improve focus, helping you make sure you see the next wave coming. Whether you’re catching actual waves or riding the wave of life - BSY classes will help you surf better and stay in the water longer!

While our classes are built for surfers - we know we’re all just riding the wave of life! If you are looking for fun, upbeat yoga classes, BSY offers private small-group classes that are designed around your group’s specific needs.

BSY can be your go-to workout routine or can be added to your existing workout. Incorporating yoga with your current workout routine or athletic activities can help improve performance and prevent injury. Yoga has also been shown to reduce stress and improve focus.

 

What to expect

Structured classes - you know what you’re getting so you can stop wondering about what comes next and focus on the pose you’re in now.

Short and sweet, with some sweat: All yoga classes are 45 minutes long with an athletic/power style to them.

You’ll work hard and leave feeling accomplished.

Oxygen Advantage

The Oxygen Advantage® is a breathing technique scientifically proven to improve VO2 max (maximal oxygen uptake), increase aerobic threshold, increase oxygen delivery to working muscles, delay the onset of fatigue and lactic acid, and much more.  The core components of the technique include light breathing to enter “the zone”, breath holding to simulate high altitude, and movement and exercise linked with the breath.  The end result is an overall improvement in health & performance.

The Oxygen Advantage® technique is a perfect compliment to yoga and can be practiced before, during, or after a class.  The technique can also be used independently as its own distinct practice.

Oxygen Advantage® training sessions can be held in-person or via Skype® or FaceTime®. In-person consultations available in Brevard County, Florida in the following areas:

  • Melbourne

  • Satellite Beach

  • Rockledge

  • Merritt Island

  • Viera

  • Cocoa Beach

 

What to expect

First session (1 hour) - The session begins with an assessment of your current breathing fitness.  Based on this assessment, you will be led through a 20-30 minute breathing workout. 

After the session, you will be provided with a workbook describing your breathing assessment, including specific areas where you can improve, and a detailed workout plan based on your current breathing fitness.

Follow-up sessions are a great way to monitor your progress, expand your breathing practice, and get answers to any questions that might come up as you explore the Oxygen Advantage® techniques.
